Listening is an activity that consists of hearing, interpreting and expressing the message. Unfortunately,Putri (2014) found that the students’ listening score was low. However, in the 21st century, various innovative technologies are being introduced to help student’s problems in learning listening. Oneof innovative technologiesthat canbe an alternative media in teaching listening to students is Podcast. Therefore. the aim of this research was to find out whether there is any significant difference on students’ listening skills between those who were taught by using podcast as a media and those who were taught by using tape recorder at eleventh grade of MAN 2 Model Banjarmasin.Thisresearchused quasi-experimental research.The sample was two classes which consist of 31 students in experimental class, while in control class consist of 31 students who were taken by cluster random sampling. The finding of the research showed that there were significant differences in two classes, it could be seen from the calculation of t-test result (2.925) > than the t-table (2.000) for the significant level of 0.05 and df 60. In addition, the average score of pre-test and post-test of experimental class were 64.94 and 86.23, while control class only got 62.15 in pre-test and 72.47 in the post-test. Based on research finding, Podcast may become alternative media in teaching listening. Using podcast to teach listening is a good innovation. It can stimulate the students’ interest in material.
