The global life requires the necessity to read well. But according to the Programfor International Student Assessment (PISA) and Progress in International Reading Literacy Study (PIRL)survey in 2015 and exposed at December 6th 2016, Indonesia just got the low grade. It was 64th from 72 countries. The Ministry of Education and Culture tried to fix this problem by making the ministry role No. 23 year2015. The Indonesian goverment socialized the School Literacy Movement to school to be applied in class.The objectives of this research are to analysis the implementation of the school literacy movement and to find out the problems in SMAN 1 Banjarmasin.
The approach of this research is qualitative. The research subjects are English teachers and students. The data collection techniques were interview with teachers and students. Data analysis is used with interactive model by Miles and Huberman, descriptive analysis. The qualitative analysis are done by data reduction, data display, and conclusion or verification.
The results of this research are the School Literacy Movement (SLM)implemented by habitual, development, and learning of reading. The suggestion are given to improve the implementation the School Literacy Movement (SLM) by using the internet to find more the reading books and improve the vocabularies.
