In writing, especially in Advanced Writing Class, grammar is the most important aspect to deal with. Therefore, the researcher attempted to find out the grammatical problems faced by the students in writing essay in Advanced Writing Class batch 2017 in English Language Education Study Program of Lambung Mangkurat University. The researcher used qualitative descriptive design in the study. The data gained from the students' writing assignments in Advanced Writing Class in English Language Education Study Program batch 2017 and then analyzed qualitatively by the researcher. As the result, the researcher found out that 15 students made mistakes in prepositions, modals, possessive noun, verb tense, subject-verb agreement, article, passive voice, missing be and verb, word order, demonstrative pronoun, and comparative degree. This study hopefully can help teacher in which part to put emphasis on in teaching grammar as well as writing. Also, the students will be able to improve themselves by minimizing their mistakes in writing essay.
