Evaluation is the activity to control and guarantee the education quality as the result of the teaching and learning process.A test can be said as a good test if it fulfills several requirements, such as validity, reliability, level of difficulty, discriminating power, and administration. One of the efforts to know the quality of a test is by analyzing test items.

The research applied a descriptive quantitative and qualitative approach because it tries to describe content validity, reliability, level of difficulty, and discriminating power. The sample of this research was the Englishsummative test designed to test the students who were registered as the tenth-grade student at SMAN 9 Banjarmasin academic year 2019/2020.

The findings of the research show that the English summative test was in a low category of validity because test items were not relevant to the content of K-13. The reliability was in the medium category (0,554). The level of difficulty was in the easy category. Lastly, the discrimination power  showed that 52% of the test items were in poor category and suggested to be revised.

 

Based on the research findings, it is suggested that the test maker should arrange the test item based on the learning objectives of the other English skills and more practice in making good test items to measure the students’ ability in teaching and learning process.
