The final project discussed the correlation between students reading habit and their writing ability. The basic problem is the writer wanted to discuss in the final project was the importance of reading habit which impact the ability in writing recount text of English Department students. The researcher was aimed at finding out level of reading habit of English Department students 2019 batch examining their writing ability, and finding out whether there ability in writing recount text.

            The population for this final project was the 2019 students’ batch of English Department in academic year of 2020/2021 and it was 95 students. 25 students were taken for sample for this research. A questionnaire was used to measure how good the students reading habit that would lead writing test to measure students’ ability in writing recount rest. After conduct a research, it was found was 60 %, that was usually level and the average of writing recount text 75.68.48 that was categorize as good. The result show the score 0.44515547, from this result researcher can conduct there is moderate correlation between reading habit and writing ability in English Department 2019 batch students.

            Based on research findings, it is suggested that the students should increase their reading habit intensify and starting to learn about writing and try to write down. The Teacher should encouraging students to starting reading literature and does some writing.
