This research is aimed to describe the ability of the eleventh grade students at SMK Farmasi Al-Furqan academic year 2019/2020 Banjarmasin in reading comprehension. This research was conducted based on the fact that the need of foreign language mastery is felt to be important, especially the mastery of English. In this research, the researcher focused on reading. Especially in reading comprehension, there are five various skills in reading comprehension such as: finding  main ideas, finding detail information, guessing meaning from context, identifying referent, and drawing conclusion.

The researcher focused on the reading because reading comprehension is very essential for all people nowadays, especially for senior high school students, because students spend most of their time by reading. This fact invites the writer to find out the students ability in reading comprehension at SMK Farmasi Al-Furqan academic year 2019/2020 Banjarmasin especially on the eleventh grade.

The variable of this research is reading comprehension ability. The data are measured on five reading comprehension skills: finding  main ideas, finding detail information, guessing meaning from context, identifying referent, and drawing conclusion. The descriptive research used in collecting data. There was a multiple-choice as test. The researcher uses quantitative analysis in analyzing the data for this research.

            The result of this research showed that the highest percentage of students reading comprehension ability is average level (40%) from the total students. There is 1 student get excellent score, 2 students get very good score, 9 students get good score, 12 students get average score, 4 students get low score, and 2 students get very low score. The researcher take 1 class to do this research and the total of students are 30. Total sampling method is used in this research.

            Based on the findings, it is suggested for the english teacher to improve the attention of the students before presenting a new material or new topic and give more practices in order to maintain the good achievements of the students in reading comprehension.
