This research aims to reveal the ability of students of English Language Education Study Program of Lambung Mangkurat University batch 2018 in using gerund and infinitive. A gerund is defined as the –ing form of a verb used as a noun and infinitive is defined as a verb form usually preceded by to, that is used as a noun, adjective, or adverb. The ability of the students in using gerund and infinitive means that the students' quality of being able to answer questions about gerund and infinitive. This quality is the accuracy that is related to the students’ ability in producing text without any grammatical error (Richards:2015). The method of this research was a descriptive quantitative method. The samples of the research were 79 students of the whole Advanced Grammar classes. The data were collected through a test with 50 questions about gerund and infinitive.

The research found out the ability of the students in using the gerund and infinitive was average 69.47. Then, the ability of the students in using gerund was average 75.04. Lastly, the ability of the student in using the infinitive was average 63.90.

Finally, for further learning and research, the researcher suggests to English teachers and lecturers to more emphasize the teaching and learning process to-infinitive rather than gerund because there are still more students who made more errors in using infinitives.
