Mosses are the second largest group after higher plants. Total species of mosses found in Indonesia are 1,500 species from 18,000 species of the world. However, the information of mosses in South Kalimantan especially in Tahura has not documented. The research study aimed to determine and to characterize mosses at seven ecotourism areas in the TAHURA Sultan Adam. A purposive sampling method was used to identifiy mosses and then samples were taken in order to observe their morphologies using both the stereo and the binoculer microscopes. The cell leaves were characterized using the squash method. The result showed that 22 species of mosses from 12 families were described namely Barbula consanguinea (Thw & Mitt), Hyophila apiculata, Calymperes aeruginosum Hampe ex Lac, Mitthyridium undulatum, Calymperes schmidtii Broth, Calymperes tenerum, Aneura sp., Ectropothecium falciforme, Octoblepharum albidum, Fissidens zollingeri, Fissidens papillosus, dan Fissidens ceylonensis, Pohlia elongata Hedw., Bryum leucophyllum Dozy & Molk., Bryum bicolor Dicks., Bryum clavatum (Schimp.) Mull. Hal., Splachnobryum obtusum, Lejeunea lamacerina, Trocholejeunea sandvicensis, Gongylanthus ericetorum (Raddi) Ness., Philonotis bartramioides (Griff.) D.G. Griffin & W.R., and Acroporium secundum (Reinw. & Hornsch.) M. Fleisch. Each moss has its unique characteristics from the outer morphology and the cell leaf.
