The background of this research is to know, explore and promote the kinship system of the western antasan Kecil Arab community of Pasar Lama Banjarmasin as a learning resource. Arabs came to South Kalimantan and spread to other areas, some went to Negara, Kandangan, Amuntai, Rantau, Kalua, Martapura, and Banjarmasin. In 1922 the Arabs came to Banjarmasin, the Arabs who came to Banjarmasin were all men, numbering about 10 people. In 1923 the Arab community began to build the Arab village gradually until 1925 it became the Arab village. The kinship system of the Arab community adheres to the Patrilineal kinship system and the people also apply clan naming for people of Arab descent.

The focus of this research is to explain how the kinship system of the western antasan Kecil Arab community in the old market of Banjarmasin which uses the Patrilineal kinship system and the clan system in people of Arab descent And how do the people maintain their close relations so that they are well-established.

The purpose of this writing is so that we can know and understand the kinship system of the Arab community which can maintain the kinship of the people to form harmony and unity in the community. The kinship system of the Arab community which is used as a source of social studies learning and it is hoped that the character of students can emerge by examining the kinship system of the Arab community, namely the way the community maintains good kinship relations and maintains relationships with other communities so that the Arab community in the village can easily mingle with other communities, especially for junior high school students and equivalent. This thesis writing method uses qualitative methods. In this paper, using several things that are systematic, factual, accurate regarding the nature of the facts and the relationship of the phenomena that are owned. Interviews were conducted with people of Arab descent. From the results of the interviews, data and descriptions of the kinship system of Arab communities in Arab villages were obtained regarding marriage, social relations, family relations, culture and economy. The kinship system of the Arab community has the character values ??of being open, tolerant, establishing friendship with other relatives, cooperation, social care, upholding their lineage, easily mingling and this is used as a contextual social science learning resource, especially for junior high school students and the same.
