           SDN Sungai Punggu Baru 2, located in Barito Kuala Regency, has been conducting EFL (English as a Foreign Language) learning for several years as a local content subject. The basis of this activity is Permendiknas no. 22-23/2006 and Permendiknas no. 62 of 2014 concerning extracurricular activities at the primary and secondary education levels. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, all teaching and learning processes must be carried out online, including EFL as a local content subject.

         This study aims to describe the teaching and learning process of EFL as a local content subject at SDN Sungai Punggu Baru 2, Barito Kuala Regency. This study uses a qualitative approach with subjects consisting of four teachers and four students. Data collection is done by interview.

          The results showed that the teaching and learning process of English with local content at SDN Sungai Punggu Baru 2 was carried out well. Students and teachers already have the basic facilities to conduct online teaching and learning. Online learning has flexibility in its implementation but is able to encourage teachers to be more creative in teaching. In addition, students are required to be more independent and motivated to be more active in learning. However, online learning has obstacles in its implementation, namely unstable network conditions and student difficulties in understanding learning materials. Therefore, schools should facilitate teachers more, the government should be more aggressive in providing support in the implementation of online learning and teachers should increase their creativity as educators.
