Creating a lesson plan is very important to do by any teacher. It is because lesson plan contains the purpose of learning. The lesson plan plays an important role to organize teaching and learning process. Without syllabus and lesson plans, teacher does not have organized concepts. And also, the teachers are required to be professional in choosing methods and assessment in the learning and teaching processes. There are many methods used by teachers so that learning can be achieved and the assessments are made to assess the student’s activity, creativity, andachievement.

 

   This research aimed to find the suitability of teaching method and assessment with the learning objectives in the English teachers’ lesson plan at SMP Widya Dharma Banjarmasin and SMP Islam Terpadu Insan Madani Banjarmasin. This study used qualitative as the design of the research. The lesson plan of three teachers who taught English classes were selected based on criteria. This research used documentation (lesson plan and checklist) and interview as the instruments. The data were analyzed by using descriptive research.

 

From the documents and interview, this research revealed that the English teachers used different method and assessment in every meeting, based on the material that they taught. In every lesson plan, the teacher used syllabus as the main foundation before they choose method and assessment. In each lesson plan, methods, assessments, learning objectives and materials have continuity with oneanother.

Based on the result of this research, the researcher suggested the teachers to be better in making the preparation and planning of making the lesson plan, especially to choose the method in the teaching and learning process. And for the school, is to provide the training or briefings periodically in related to teacher, so that they can make various lesson plans that are not monotonous and repetitive and the implementation of teacher lesson plan in the class running effectively.
