Teachers were dealing with the students who were living in the digital era. The teacher should have the ability to make a creative way to conduct the teaching-learning process by integrating the technology in the class. The teacher could use some learning media to attract students' attention, such as video. Video was one kind of audio-visual medium that could be used by teachers as a learning medium to teach their students in the classroom. Therefore, this research was about the use of video as a learning medium in teaching English.

 

The researcher employed a descriptive qualitative study and the subjects of the research were the teacher who used the videos that were used as the learning medium and the eleventh-grade students of XI Agama 1 at Madrasah Aliyah Negeri 2 Model Banjarmasin. Research data was collected by observing the use of video as the learning medium in teaching English and interviewing the teacher and some students of XI Agama 1 at MAN 2 Model Banjarmasin in the school.

 

The findings of the research showed that the videos used as the learning medium in teaching English have been used well and implemented effectively. The use of the videos had a good quality because the videos had video elements such as good images, clear sound, text, and animation. On the other hand, the language or the diction in the videos was easy to understand. The duration of the videos that used as the learning medium did not take a long time. And also, the videos that were used as the learning medium always match the learning material.

 

Moreover, the teaching-learning process that was helped by videos as the learning medium showed that the learning process became more interesting and made it easier especially for the teacher when she taught the students. In addition, learning using videos made students happy and enjoyed the learning process because videos attracted the students' attention so that the students could understand the material given. However, it is suggested to always pay attention to the selection of videos and the teacher can share the video to all students so they can watch and re-learn it at home.
