All educational institutionsmove to online learningto preventthe spread ofCoronaVirus.Allstudentsandlecturersuse someonline platformstocontinue thelearning process. This research is aimed to know students’ perspective in online learningof speaking at the English Language Education Study Program who take Advanced Speaking Class in academicyear2020/2021.This research is designed by using descriptive quantitative method. To collect thedata, the researcherused questionnaire whichwas distributed through Google Form.There are 65 respondents from 85 students who take Advanced Speaking Class. For thequestionnaire,thestudentshaveto respondtotwentystatements.

The findings show that the percentage indeces of 18 positive statements given about the effects of online learning on speaking skill are more than 50% or interpreted as “Agree”. Moreover, there are two positive statements that get 77.27% and 78.79% percentage index or interpreted as “Strongly Agree”. From these two statements, it can be seen that the environment in online learning affects the students’ daily routine of learning and learning style. They also believe that online learning help them improve their speaking skill. On the other hands, the percentage indeces of 2 negative statements are 62.12% and 79.55%. This results show that some of the students believe that there is no difference between online learning and face-to-face lectures. Some of them even prefer offline class to online class since they face some difficulties during online learning, such as unstable internet connection.

Therefore, from the research findings, it can be concluded that most of the students agree that onlinelearning is beneficial for their speaking skill. The students feel more comfortable to speak in online class rather than in traditional class (face-to-face). Furthermore, this research offer some suggestions. It is suggested for the students to take advantage of online learning optimally since it might lower down their affective filter while practicing speaking rather than in traditional classroom.
