This research was using qualitative analysis to find out the types and

source of error. The subjects of this research were consisted of 34 students of English Language Students batch 2019.The data was collected from the test of writing descriptive text. The researcher classified the errors using the theory by Betty S Azar, while the source of error was used the theory by Brown Dougless.Technique of data analysis in this research was qualitative analysis and to count the percentage of common error, the researcher used the formula: P=F/N x100%. The results would be interpreted using description technique. The results showed that the high error made by students was omission with percentage was about 18.1 %, and 17.5% students error in singular-plural, 14.6% in word form, 8.7% in capitalization, 8.2% in verb tense, 7.1% in run-on sentence, 6.4% students made error in incomplete sentence and punctuation, 4.7% in word order 2.9% in addition, 1.7% in word choice, and 1.2% students made errors in spelling article, and unclear meaning. The source of error was 42.7% from interlingual transfer, 35.1% caused by intralingual transfer, and the lowest was 22.2% in context of learning.
