The problem in this study is that students have difficulty in social studies subjects, the material of national events during the colonial period so that students ’learning outcomes are low. This is due to the fact that there are no non-optimal student activities when participating in teaching activities and the activities are not a variety of learning approaches in the classroom. The solution to this problem is to use the Problem -based Learning model, Two Stay Two Stray, and Talking Stick. The purpose of this study was to determine teacher activity, student activity and to improve student learning outcomes in social studies subjects.

The research setting was conducted in the fifth grade of SDN Marabahan Baru with 20 students including 10 male students and 10 female students. This study was conducted with a qualitative approach through descriptive and comparative methods with the type of Class Action Research (CAR). The technique of collecting data is by observing the activities of teachers and students, to determine the learning outcomes of students, written tests are conducted at the end of the lesson.

The results of the observation of fifth grade students in SDN Marabahan Baru showed that student activity during my 3 meetings increased 86.01% classically, reaching 79% of students in the “Very Active” criteria. The increase in student learning outcomes at the end of the meeting was 80%, classical students were considered to have completed KKM 70. When the study was conducted in a heterogeneous group, the teacher explained the purpose of the study and gave the group assignments different from the other groups.

Based on the results of the study, it can be concluded that teacher activities can be done well in each meeting so as to achieve excellent categories and achieve success indicators determined by researchers, there is an increase in student activities and learning outcomes using Problem Learning model, Two Stay Two Stray, Talking model. Stick, so it can be suggested that teachers can determine or select the model of this effort to improve the implementation of the class by using the model protein, particularly in social studies lessons about the events in his life.
