Sarjana’s Thesis, English Language Education Study Program, Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, Lambung Mangkurat University, Banjarmasin. Advisors: (I) Dr. Hj. Keywords: perception, online learning, covid-19 pandemic

The Covid-19 pandemic has caused almost all activities to be carried out remotely, including learning and teaching activities. It is one way to prevent the spread of the Covid-19 virus in the school environment. Therefore, online learning makes learning and teaching activities possible even though teachers and students can only meet and communicate online. This study aimed to discover students' perceptions on online learning at English Language Education Study Program batch 2019.

The study used descriptive quantitative research. This research used a total sampling technique with 80 students of English Language Education Study Program batch 2019 as the research sample. The instruments used in this study were questionnaires and interviews. The questionnaires consist of closed-ended questions using a Likert scale, and questions given in the interviews are open-ended questions. Then, the data is presented in percentages and described in descriptive form.

The study found that students felt that social interaction in online learning was quite comfortable, whether the interaction between students and students or students and lecturers, even though the interaction was limited and carried out online. Students try to be present and actively involved in online learning. In addition, students are satisfied with the use of online learning; this satisfaction depends on the courses and lecturers who teach. However, internet connection is an obstacle students often face during online learning; hence, it prevents them from interacting, attending, and actively participating in online learning.

Based on the findings, most students have a positive perception because the use of online learning is following the learning needs of students during the Covid-19 pandemic. Meanwhile, some students perceive that online learning has some obstacles that make students difficult to participate in learning activities actively. As a suggestion, students can study independently to increase their knowledge if they have obstacles preventing them from actively participating in the online class. Moreover, lecturers can improve online learning activities using the information of students' perception on the use of online learning to make students interested in attending and actively involved in learning activities.
