One of the most current educational issues which is interesting to discuss is lesson plan which has appeared as the alternative to handle the problem of teaching and learning practice. Teachers still find it difficult to implement the lesson plan. this research is aimed to find out the problems of teacher in implementing lesson plan based on 2013 curriculum.

 

This research used descriptive qualitative method. The samples were the English teachers at SMK Negeri 2 Banjarmasin. The instruments used were, interview and document analysis which is lesson plan analysis. Based on the lesson plan analysis, it was found that the problem of the teachers in designing lesson plans was with the learning materials. The other problems of the teachers in implementing lesson plans based on the interview and observation were the time management, students’ characteristics and lack of infrastructure in the school.

 

The conclusion of this reseacrch was the implementation of the lesson plan has not yet implemented all of the existing activities in the lesson plan.The researcher suggested that the teachers should follow in-service trainings such as MGMP in order to learn more about the ways of implementing and designing the lesson plan well. Then, the teachers can modify the lesson plans based on the school and students’ condition. The teachers should set the objective of the learning, manage the time allocation, and also understand more about the characteristics of the students to give the learning materials based on students’ need and interest.
