This thesis is aimed at describing the teaching of writing at the eleventh grade students of SMA Negeri 10 Banjarmasin in academic year 2019/2020. The focus of the research is about how the process of teaching writing.The subject of the research is an English Teacher of the eleventh grade of SMA Negeri 10 Banjarmasin in academic year 2019/2020.

This research is design in the form descriptive method. Data are analyzed descriptively. The techniques of collecting data are observation, interview, and documentation. The researcher analyzes the teacher activities in classroom and the techniques are usea translation of literally passage technique and writing based on topic in first meeting, writing based on jumble word or sentence in second meeting and join writing in a group in last meeting.

Then the researcheranalyzes interview result to the English teacher to obtain the information aboutteaching writing process. The material used textbook andfrom internet, and the teacherused whiteboard and picture as a media in teaching writing. Based on the results of the research, it is suggested that teacher should keep trying to use some techniques, use media and used sourcesmaterial to support teaching and learning process.
