Rice (Oryza sativa L.) is a rice-producing crop that has become the main food source for 

more than half of Indonesia's population. Rice production must be increased to meet the 

food needs of the Indonesian population. One of the main requirements to increase rice 

production is high quality seeds. Seeds that can be considered for cultivation are rice seeds 

of the Inpara 2 variety. However, the supply of these seeds is usually constrained, namely it 

is rather difficult to obtain new seeds and seeds from last year's harvest have been stored 

for too long so that the seeds expire and the seeds experience a decrease in quality. Efforts 

that can be made to improve the quality of expired rice seeds are by conducting invigoration. 

The material that can be used for invigoration is Moringa leaves. 

The purpose of this study was to determine the effect and the best concentration of Moringa 

leaf solution on the viability of expired rice seeds of the Inpara 2 variety. This study was 

arranged using a single factor Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with 5 treatments and 

5 replications and 4 sub replications. The treatments given in this study were k0 = 3% 

KNO3, k1 = 4% moringa leaf solution, k2 = 6% moringa leaf solution, k3 = 8% moringa leaf 

solution, k4 = 10% moringa leaf solution. The results showed that Moringa leaf solution had 

a significant effect on root length but had no significant effect on germination, growth 

synchronously, growth speed and plumule length,. Moringa leaf invigoration solution 10% is 

the best concentration to increase viability of expired rice seeds of Inpara 2 variety. Moringa 

leaf solution with 10% concentration can replace expired Inpara 2 rice seed invigoration with 

chemical KNO3 with a concentration of 3%.
