This study describes the method translate a legal text and what challenges are faced by qualified translators to translate legal text, and figure out how the legal text translator faces the challenges. This research used the descriptive qualitative method. The subject of this research was a qualified translator at Unit Pelaksana Teknis Bahasa Lambung Mangkurat University. The instrument used in this study was an interview and a documentary. This research shows that the translator used four methods to translate legal text at Unit Pelaksana Teknis Bahasa Lambung Mangkurat University; those are (Communicative translation, Faithful translation, Free translation, and Word-by-word translation). The translator admitted that translating legal text helped the translator translate from the source language to the target language. The researcher was found that qualified translators face challenges is about terminology, the translator's insufficient knowledge of the English legal language, deciding the modifiers, and the time given by the client. Based on findings in this research it is important to consider the translation method that will used because it has an influence to the translation product and its quality and also using online source is one way to overcome the challenges in translating legal text.
