Shallots have been cultivated using bulbs have begun to be developed using seeds, in their cultivation it requires a seedling container and seedling media composition that supports seed growth so they can become superior seeds and increase production. This study aimed to determine the effect of the seedling container and the composition of the seedling media on the germination of seeds (%) seedling height (cm), number of seedling leaves (strands) and dry weight of the top and bottom of the seedling (g). This research was begun from September to November 2019 at the Paranet's house at Jalan Bahari Cindai Alus Banjarbaru. The research using 2-factor RAL method, the first factor is the seedling container and the second factor is the composition of the seedling media. The seedling media used consisted of 3 types of media, w1 = soil block, w2 = plastic tray, w3 = polybag. The composition of the seedling media used consisted of 4 treatments which were the ratio of weight between peat: humus soil: cocopeat, k1 = 1 : 1 : 1, k2 = 1 : 1 : 2, k3 = 1: 2 : 1, k4 = 1 : 2: 2. This experiment was repeated three times so 36 experimental units were obtained. The results showed that the best combination are used plastic tray and composition peat : humus soil : cocopeat (1: 1: 2) for the germination of seed and the number of seedling leaves 2 weeks after planting.
