EVALUATION OF THE RATIONALITY OF DRUG USE IN PATIENTS OF DIARRHEA AT PUSKESMAS PEKAUMAN BANJARMASIN, 2021

Diarrhea is a condition of defecation with formless or liquid stools with a frequency of more than 3 times for 24 hours with or without blood and mucus. The purpose of this study is to describe the treatment patterns of diarrhea patients and evaluate the rationality of drug use in diarrhea patients at the Pekauman Banjarmasin health center in 2021. The method used is descriptively retrospectively from the medical record of diarrhea patients in 2021. The population in this study amounted to 362 medical records of diarrhea patients in 2021 and a sample of 225 medical records that met the inclusion criteria. The results of the study obtained patient treatment patterns based on the name of the drug attapulgite (Pularex^®)(0.25%), ORS salt (32.84%), kaolin pectin (Neo Diaform^®) (20.15%), zinc (46.77%), amoxicillin (5.43%), co-trimoxazole (88,70%), metronidazole (9.78%) and cefixime (1.09%). By dosage form namely caplets (1.62%), powder (26,72%), syrup (8,10%), dry syrup (0,81%), suspensions (9,92%)  and tablets (52,83%).Rationality of diarrhea drugs use the right indication 81,99%, the right dosage 62,96%, the right patient 81,58%, the right drug 83,60%, the right time interval of administration 52,83% and the right length of administration 34,21%. The conclusion of the study is that the most widely used drugs and dosage forms of zinc and tablet dosage forms. Some drugs are still irrational based on each criterion, it is necessary to make efforts to improve the prescribing of diarrhea drugs at the Pekauman Banjarmasin health center in the future.
