Cunningsworth (1995) stated that textbook is a resource in achieving aims andobjectives based on learner needs. Therefore, this research aims to discover whether thematerials of“Can Do” students’ textbook meet the criteria of a good textbook by GreeneandPetty(1959)andisappropriatebasedonCurriculum2013.

Textbookanalysisisdefinedasthestudytodecidethequalityandstudythefeaturesof a textbook by focusing the study with detailed analysis. The researcher used qualitativeapproach with descriptive method. The object of this research is an English textbook forstudents entitled “Can Do: Level 1” which was used for exercise and homework in the seventh grade of Junior High School.Theinstrumentsofthisresearchare rubric assessmentanddocument.

Basedonthe findings,the majorityofthequalityofthetextbookfulfilled8criteriafrom 10 criteria of the 10 criteria of a good textbook by Greene and Petty (1959). For therelevancy to the syllabus, the majority of materials in the textbook match to Curriculum2013 as there are 49 indicators that are present in the textbook from 75 indicators inCurriculum2013.

In conclusion, the majority of the textbook has a good quality based on 10 criteria of a good textbook by Greene and Petty (1959) as the textbook has interesting content, motivational activities, good illustration, linguistic aspects, four language skills, a clear instruction, suitable expressions with the learning list, and representing diversity. Furthermore, the majority of thetextbook is relevant to Curriculum 2013 as the majority of topics and indicators from thesyllabusmatchwiththematerialsinthetextbook.Itissuggestedtousethe“Can Do: Level 1”in the teaching and learning process as the supplementary material to teach thefourEnglishlanguageskills asanexerciseandhomeworkfor students.
