The full-day school program emerged as one solution to anticipate negative effects of globalization which has been developing in many aspects. In this program, the students will have a longer time than usual to study at school. SMP Negeri 6 Banjarmasin is known implementing full-day school program for four years.

This study aims to describe teachers and students’ perceptions towards the full-day school at SMP Negeri 6 Banjarmasin viewed from five indicators; knowledge, attitude, feeling, workload/study load, and working hours/study time. This study used a qualitative approach with subjects consisting of nine teachers and 78 students. The data were collected by questionnaire, interview and documentation. The data were analyzed by qualitative data analysis.

The research found that the teachers’ tend to not have difficulties in running the program at school as they have wide knowledge about the program. This makes teachers adapt by adjusting their time in working, also to do more workload than usual even with other various tasks. Meanwhile, the majority of the students also have a good knowledge about the program. The students tend to feel more comfortable with the full-day school. However, there were some obstacles faced by the students during the program such as the classroom condition which was sometimes less conducive after they were tired in the previous lesson. They also have less ability in managing time to adjust with their personal activities outside the school hour which made them need to do a bit more effort in following the lesson or doing their homework.
