Readingisaprocesswhenthereadermakesmeaningbasedontheirknowledge and previous experience. Teaching reading in a country that English as asecond language is very difficult especially in junior high school, because there aremanydifferencesbetweenthefirstandsecondlanguages,becauseofthat,theteachers need strategy to teach their students. Strategy is how the teacher teaches theirstudent, hopefullywiththat waythestudent can be easyto receive the lesson.

This study used descriptive qualitative research method with 2 junior highschoolsinBanjarmasinastheparticipants.Theinstrumentofthisresearchisobservation and interview. The observation was done 3 times each school and theinterviewwas doneonetimeeach school.

The finding of this research was some strategies used the teachers in bothschool. They were KWL (Know – Want to know – Learn) for the offline school anddrilling for the online school from the first school (teacher A). Then, the secondschool(teacherB),thereweredrilling,pictureandpicture,thinkpairandshareforthe offline class.The strategies have their own strengths and weaknesses. Therefore itsuggested to involve the student to the class activity to make them more active.Theresearcher hope that it could provide the information about the strategies that theteacher used in teaching reading comprehension at seventh grade and may be asreferencetoimprovetheabilityandunderstandaboutthestrategythatusedtoteachingreadingcomprehension.
