This research aims to reveal the ability of seventh-grade students in vocabulary at SMPN 13 Banjarmasin in the academic year 2021/2022. Vocabulary is a collection of words that are part of a particular language and are used to compose sentences, so that it can be used to communicate. Vocabulary is a basic component of all skills in studying English.The ability of the students in vocabulary means that the students' quality of being able to answer questions about vocabulary that has been taught at school based on the syllabus curriculum 2013. In this study, the researcher only focuses on pronoun and verb. The method of this research was a descriptive quantitative method. The sample of the research was 54 students. The data were collected through a test with 50 items consisting of 25 items of multiple choice and 25 items of fill in the blank.

The finding shows that the mean score of students` vocabulary is 71.03. Based on the score category of the SMPN 13 Banjarmasin, the mean score is included in the fair category. This proves that not all students very good and very poor in their vocabulary ability.

Finally, for further learning and research, the researcher suggests to the English teacher, especially those who teach in SMPN 13 Banjarmasin to always find out the best and most effective technique teaching and learning process to be enjoyable, fun, rouse students` interest, and make students motivated. So that, they will have good in mastering vocabulary as they got now.
