ETNOMEDICINE OF SUNGKAI PLANT (Peronema canescens Jack) BY DAYAK AND BANJAR TRIBES AT KOTAWARINGIN TIMUR REGENCY, CENTRAL KALIMANTAN (By: Rimaa Rahmawati; Supervisors: Sasi Gendro Sari and Gunawan; 2022; 66 pages)

 

The use of sungkai plant as medicine by Dayak and the Banjar tribes in east Kotawaringin have never been informed, especially in Bagendang Permai, Bagendang Hilir, and Bagendang Hulu as medicine. The study revealed the use of sungkai plant such as the part of the sungkai used, how to process, measure, and benefits of sungkai herb and identified the level knowledge of sungkai plants through ethnomedicine studies. The method used was a selected semi-structured interview technique by distributing questionnaires to 180 respondents at three villages. The processing technique of leaves was boiled and pounded. Sungkai leaves ware medicinally used by local people to treat bruises 1,7%, fevers 100%, increase immunity 100%, and hot bath therapy for post partum mother 1,1%. Ethnomedicine knowledge of the people of east Kotawaringin based on age class  Sig 0,462>0,05, gender Sig 0,595>0,05, and ethnicity Sig 0,950>0,05  did not show a different level of knowledge about the use of sungkai drugs with an ethnobotanical knowledge index of respondents of 82.57 which was relatively high.
