Climate mitigation is an action in the face of increasing global warming. Reducing the concentration of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere can be done by imposing an economic value of carbon through carbon trading. The Forest Area with a Special Purpose (KHDTK) of the University of Lambung Mangkurat (ULM) with an area of ??1,617 ha has a variety of vegetation capable of absorbing carbon. This ability has an important role in reducing global warming. The purpose of this study is to calculate stored carbon stocks and the economic value that can be generated by KHDTK ULM. the method for selecting plots uses NDVI (normalized different vegetation index) values ??with sparse, medium and dense vegetation densities. The estimation of biomass and carbon stocks in living trees, dead trees and dead wood was carried out using the non-destructive method, while litter and undergrowth was carried out using the destructive method. Calculation analysis of carbon stocks at KHDTK ULM used the equation from SNI 7724 of 2011. The results showed that the stored carbon stock was 245.25 tons/ha (146.7 above surface; 54.26 below surface; 7.11 dead trees; dead wood 23.02; undergrowth 5.57; litter 8.58). The price used to calculate the economic value of carbon is USD 97.5 according to the average purchases of several companies in America, England and Japan. The economic value of carbon stocks that can be produced from the KHDTK area is USD 23,910.90/ton or equivalent to Rp. 371,766.673 with the Rupiah exchange rate at Rp. 15,548 (29 October 2022).
