Textbooks are important for supporting the teaching process. English textbooks, predominantly containing General English, are utilized in all types of schools in Indonesia. However, the types of school are various, as they have their characteristics. Vocational school, as one of school types, should get attention by specific materials as ESP textbook related to their field.  In purpose to determine how successful the role of ESP textbook in a particular school, a term called evaluation take part in that. Evaluation being significant in classroom circumstances because it can help teachers or related stakeholders to consider the existence and effectiveness of the textbook for students.

            In order to collect the data, qualitative study used in this research because the data deals with respondents’ perspectives. The researcher conducted the research in SMK Arung Samudera Banjarmasin, and ten students of 2021/2022 roled as the participants in this study, at the end of their first semester. The instruments were questionnaire as the basis of data. In addition, interview also contributed here to complete the students’ perspectives.

The results indicated satisfying results. From total 22 questions in questionnaire, divided to four criteria, all of them obtained good or excellent score. The results from questionnaire are justified by interview results. Further, the purpose meet students’ need, content and language exercise are containing ESP real-context. Besides, the skills in textbook are integrated, varied, and support their field, the strategies for learning process also suitable with students.

Even though this study indicated satisfying results, but it conducted on a small population and the similar answers and data are likely to appear. The next researcher can investigate wider population to get various perspectives.
