This study aims to produce science modules using the CBSL model of motion topic in living things and to describe the validity, practicality and effectiveness of the resulting modules. The research design used was educational development research or Educational Design Research (EDR) with the Tessmer development research model.

The data collection technique was the percentage validation sheet technique of media experts and material experts. In addition to using student response questionnaires and tests of critical thinking skills and decision making questionnaires. The module validation sheets were given to 3 validators, while the practice sheets and critical thinking test instruments and decision making were given to 9 class VIII students of SMP Negeri 5 Banjarmasin (small group) and 31 students in the field test.

The results of the validity analysis concluded that the validity of the module The results of the validity questionnaire analysis concluded that the validity of the module was 3.51 in the very valid category. The small group practicality to analysis scored 85.15 in the very practical category, and the field trial questionnaire obtained a value of 86. 29 in the very practical category. The results of critical thinking skills by obtaining an N-gain of 0.83 at SMPN 5 Banjarmasin. Students' decision-making skills have increased by obtaining an N-gain of 0.84 at SMPN 5 Banjarmasin. This means that the CBSL model IPA module is valid, practical, and effective for use in the learning process to improve the critical thinking skills and decision-making skills of VIII SMP/MTs students.
