Covid-19 pandemic is one of the fundamental reasons for the implementation of online learning in the education learning process. In online learning, there are several courses that require each student to work together to complete the course and this activity called group work. Before the pandemic, group work was carried out directly face to face, in contrast to group work during a pandemic, communication between group members is more limited and must use media or supporting platforms to communicate. In this study researchers want to know how the point of view of English students at Lambung Mangkurat University on working in group during pandemic period and the researcher also wanted to know whether online learning share the same or different benefits and problems with the offline learning especially in group work process. 

This research was qualitative approach with a descriptive method which used questionnaire and interview as the instrument of the research. Through qualitative method researcher can find out the perspective of the subject more deeply, that cannot be representated by statistical number. And also with this method the researcher can get to know subject more personally and understand their opinion.

The result of the research showed that ELESP students have a negative perception in the implementation of group work on online learning during the pandemic situation. It clearly showed by students from the result of questionnaire and interview that think group work when online learning is not effective, and most of students prefer offline group work rather than online group work. This is certainly caused by various challenges and obstacles that arise in group work on online learning during covid-19 pandemic situation, like the unclear instruction by the lecturers, poor communication with other members of the group and unstable internet connection.

As suggestion, each student are expected can actively participate in any group work activity with other member, the lecturesrs should be able to combine synchronous and asynchronous learning in balanced way, and the last hopefully this research can help become a reference or alternative source and also a motivation for future researchers who want to examine the perception of group work when online learning.
