Motivation plays a crucial role in the success of English Language Learning for students. It is the driving force that encourages students to engage, participate, and persist in the learning process. Without a proper motivation, students may lack enthusiasm teaching and learning process. The purpose of this paper is to investigate students’ motivation in English Language Learning. A systematic literature review is therefore used to investigate the students’ motivation in English Language Learning. This paper is a thorough analysis and synthesis of articles selected from 2017-2023. Based on the result, there are two kinds of motivation, namely intrinsic motivation and extrinsic motivation. Both intrinsic and extrinsic motivation, along with a supportive learning environment and relevant material, are crucial in fostering students’ engagement, participation, and perseverance in English Language Learning.
