The Interjection expression is one of class part of speech that is rarely discussed in translation research. More than expression interjection has several points such as types, form, function and even meaning in communication. Furthermore, the early interjections research has been conducted in the same topic of interjection in the novel but their topic were focused on the topics of technique, strategies and analysis of interjections. In addition, the contrastive analysis method has been employed as a method for several studies that purpose to find the difference and similarities between two languages however among the previous research it has never been compared interjection expression. Therefore, to avoid misunderstanding of different expressions and culturethe researcher interested to find out the difference and similarities between Indonesian and English interjections in the novel.. This research aims on finding the differences and similarities of interjection expression in term of meaning and types in laskar pelangi and rainbow troops novels.

The researcher used descriptive qualitative method. The researcher used documentation method to collect the data of interjection expressions in the novels.The data were classified based on the theory interjection classification by O’Connell. The total data in the novel was 19 interjection expressions foundthey are 10 data of primary interjection, 8 data of secondary interjection and 1 data of onomatopoeicinterjection. The research used a human instrument and observation sheet. The data that has been classified were displayed in form of table based on three comparison steps of contrastive analysis by Lado (1957). 

The findings of this research showed that the similarities between Indonesian and English interjection in terms of meanings and types were interjection expressions that have similar form and similar meaning, interjection expressions that havesimilar form but different meaning of expressions and interjection expressions that have similar meaning but different form of expressions.
