Podzolic soils are soils that have an argillic B horizon, with base saturation (NH₄OAc) <30% in the B horizon, generally found in areas with an average annual rainfall of 2,500-3,000 mm, topography undulating to hilly, vegetation, tropical rain forest such as reeds, melastoma, and ferns. N is a very important macronutrient and is needed by plants in large quantities, N is a very mobile element and only about 70% can be used by plants, while the other 30% is lost. This can happen because N compounds are easily dissolved and easily lost. in drainage water, leaching, and evaporating into the atmosphere.
