ABSTRACT. Biopellets Mixture of Meranti Wood Powder (Shorea spp.) and Baking Soda for Deodorizing Cat Litter. This research aims to determine the best composition of biopellet products to be applied as a substitute for lumpy sand in cat litter. This research made 3 types of composition, namely by comparing meranti wood powder and baking soda, 50% meranti wood powder with 50% baking soda, 60% meranti wood powder with 40% baking soda, and 70% meranti wood powder with 30% baking soda. . Data collection was carried out using organoleptic tests to obtain average numerical scale values. The numerical scale has 4 assessment criteria, namely very odorous with a value of 1, quite odorous with a value of 2, slightly odorous with a value of 3 and no odor with a value of 4. The number of panelists in this study was 3 people who were included in the limited type of panel who knew the product manufacturing process from the beginning to the testing process and the final results are taken from the decisions of the panel members themselves. The results obtained from this research were that after an organoleptic test was carried out, it was found that the composition of the ratio of 50% meranti sawdust to 50% baking soda had a value of 3 (slightly odorous), the ratio of 60% to 40% baking soda had a value of 2 (fairly odorous), a ratio of 70% to 30% baking soda, meaning that a composition ratio of 50% meranti wood powder to 50% baking soda is superior to other compositions.

ABSTRAK. Biopellet Campuran Serbuk Kayu Meranti (Shorea spp.) dan Soda Kue untuk Penghilang Bau Kotoran Kucing. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk Mengetahui komposisi terbaik produk biopellet yang diaplikasikan sebagai pengganti pasir gumpal pada kotoran kucing. Penelitian ini dibuat sebanyak 3 macam komposisi yaitu dengan perbandingan antara serbuk kayu meranti dan soda kue 50% serbuk kayu meranti dengan 50% soda kue, 60% serbuk kayu meranti dengan 40% soda kue, dan 70% serbuk kayu meranti dengan 30% soda kue. Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan cara uji organoleptik untuk memperoleh nilai skala numerik rata rata. Skala numerik memiliki 4 kriteria penilaian yaitu sangat berbau dengan nilai 1, cukup berbau dengan nilai 2, sedikit berbau dengan nilai 3 dan tidak berbau dengan nilai 4. Jumlah panelis pada penelitian ini sebanyak 3 orang yang termasuk kedalam jenis panel terbatas yang mengetahui proses pembuatan produk dari awal sampai dengan proses pengujian dan hasil ahir diambil dari keputusan dari anggota panel itu sendiri. Hasil yang diperoleh dari penelitian ini yaitu setelah dilakukan uji organoleptik memperoleh hasil bahwa kompisisi perbandingan 50% serbuk kayu meranti dengan 50% soda kue memiliki nilai 3 (sedikit berbau), perbandingan 60% dengan 40% soda kue memiliki nilai 2 (cukup berbau), perbandingan 70% dengan 30% soda kue, artinya komposisi perbandingan 50% serbuk kayu meranti dengan 50% soda kue lebih diunggulkan daripada komposisi lain.
