English is a foreign language in Indonesia, and the ability to translate Indonesian to English is important to help ELESP students at Lambung Mangkurat University convey information in English as students or future teachers. Also, translation techniques are used to divert messages in the smallest unit of the text from the source language (Indonesia) to the target language (English) to help the translator find equivalent words.

The objective of this research is to describe the translation technique used by ELESP Lambung Mangkurat University Batch 2019 in translating the Indonesian text entitled Fenomena Citayam Fashion Week. This research was a descriptive qualitative with Molina and Albir's translation technique theory. The participants were ELESP Lambung Mangkurat University Batch 2019. The instruments were open-ended questionnaire and interview.

The research showed that the participants used Adaptation, Borrowing, Calque, Compensation, Linguistic Amplification, Linguistic Compression, Literal Translation, Modulation, Reduction, Transposition, and Variation. The participants translated the text relying on their knowledge, also their habit of focusing on the structure makes the rest of the translation techniques not used while translating the text. Hence, the students should learn to translate by considering the equivalent of the words, rather than focusing only on the structure.
