The phenomenon of equivalence has been at the centre of focus for numerous researchers during the past decades, especially in the field of translation studies, equivalence being one of key concepts of translation theory. Achieving cultural equivalence is essential for effective communication and ensuring that the translated text is not only linguistically accurate but also culturally appropriate and relevant. Cultural equivalence in translation refers to the concept of accurately conveying not only the linguistic meaning of a source text from one language into a target language but also the cultural nuances, context, and cultural references inherent in the original text. This chapter discusses the cultural equivalent in translation along with the forms and the examples that found in a movie ‘Battle of Surabaya’ that follows cultural categories of Newmark’s (1987) theories such as, socio culture, material culture, ecology, organization and gestures or habits. By understand on achieving equivalence in cultural terms enhances translator ability to communicate effectively across cultures. It allows translator to convey messages more accurately and comprehend the intended meaning of others.
