Textbook is important for teachers and students in teaching and learning process. Therefore, this research’s aim is to analyze whether the content of English textbook “Bright 2” meets the criteria of a good textbook as suggested by BNSP or not.

Textbook analysis is a systematic analysis of the text materials of a textbook. The researcher used document analysis. The object of this research is an English textbook Entitled “Bright 2” which was used as supplementary book at SMPN 1 Banjarmasin.

Based on the results, the researcher found that English textbook “Bright 2” has met the criteria which are suggested by BSNP 2013 in terms of its content. This book contains three from four domains exists in the 2013 curriculum. Those domains are affective domain, cognitive domain, and psychomotor domain.

The researcher suggests that the writer gives further explanation related with the examples. Moreover, the writer needs to pay attention to the example and gives examples which are suitable for the eighth grade students’ daily lives. The writer needs to write down the sources of the materials in the textbook. Therefore, students can check whether the source is reliable or not. It will be better if the writer gives more material related with students’ vocational skills, national potential resources and materials which can develop the love towards the motherland.
