                This research was aimed to find out whether there is any significant difference on students’ ability in writing procedure text between students who are taught by using Demonstration technique and those who are taught by using Guided Writing technique at the eleventh grade of SMK Negeri 4 Banjarmasin academic year 2018/2019.

            This research used quasi-experimental design. The population of this research was the eleventh grade students at SMK Negeri 4 Banjarmasin consisted of 415 students. Then, the researcher used Cluster Random Sampling technique to decide which class to be the experimental class and control class. As the result, XI Boga 2 was experimental class consisted of 28 students and XI Boga 1 was control class consisted of 28 students.

            The result of this research leads to the conclusion that there was a significant difference between students who are taught by using Demonstration technique and those who are taught by using Guided Writing technique. Based on the hypothesis testing using t-test, this research found the t-test value (4.64) was higher than t-table (2.00). It meant the Alternative Hypothesis (Ha) was accepted. It can be concluded that the use of demonstration technique brings a significant difference on the students’ ability in writing procedure text at the eleventh grade students of SMK Negeri 4 Banjarmasin academic year 2018/2019.

            According to the result above, it is suggested to English teacher to use a suitable technique in teaching writing procedure text such as demonstration technique to give better result on the students’ writing ability and to help students write a procedure text easily.
