In this study, the characteristics of briquette combustion using raw materials of ironwood powder and gelam wood powder with carbonization temperature were used which cans temperature of 500 oC ± 10 oC for 120 minutes. The size of the particles used by 50 mesh and adhesives used in the study was starch with a ratio of 6 grams of briquette charcoal to 6 grams. At this mixing stage 30 grams of ironwood charcoal and gelam use a composition variation of 100% ironwood charcoal powder and 0% gelam, 70%: 30%, 50%: 50%, 30%: 70%, 0%: 100% gelam and pressure variations of 100kg/cm2, 125 kg/cm2, and 150 kg/cm2.From the research, it was found that the combustion characteristics of briquettes were the highest combustion temperature of 205 oC in the A4 sample with a composition of 30% ironwood powder and 70% gelam wood powder at a pressure of 100 kg/cm2. The longest burning time is 140 minutes (2 hours 20 minutes) with the lowest combustion rate in sample C3 with a composition of 50% ironwood powder and 50% gelam wood powder at a pressure of 150 kg/cm2. The fastest initial ignition time with 7 minutes in sample B2 with a composition of 70% ironwood powder and 30% gelam wood powder at a pressure of 125 kg/cm2. For the initial and final weight (ash) the more the amount of ironwood powder, the heavier it will be.
