In learning writing, students face difficulties that must be overcome by the students themselves and also the teachers. Writing is not merely a product, but also a process of creating a piece of writing. Providing feedback on students’ writing is a way to guide students going through that process. This study tries to determine the types of feedback used by Advanced Writing students of English Department batch 2015 of Lambung Mangkurat University Banjarmasin.

The method applied in this study was qualitative method with descriptive design. The subjects of this study were 36 fourth semester students enrolled in Advanced Writing course. The data were collected through observing the classroom activities and students’ writing. Supporting data were also added from interviewing the students. Afterward, the data was analyzed with a rubric adapted from Ellis (2008).

The results pointed out that the written corrective feedback (CF) used by Advanced Writing students were direct CF, indirect CF, metalinguistic CF, and unfocused feedback. It is suggested that teacher should apply feedback in teaching writing. More research is needed to determine other types of CF which are not limited to written feedback. The subject of the study is also should not be limited to advanced level only.
