Quantitatively, effluent water in IPAL can be used as a source of raw water, but effluent water is known that the pH of the effluent water tends to be neutral, effluent water also contains organic matter in the form of low hydrophobic nature and is more dominated by hydrophilic organic material. Organic substances such as KMnO4 are still above the water quality standard. And dominated by relatively small molecular weights. Coagulation - Flocculation - Sedimentation is one method that can be used for wastewater treatment in removing organic matter (BO) in water. The type of coagulant used in this study was AlCl3, Al2(SO4)3, FeCl3, FeSO4 and PAC coagulants. Variation in pH and dose of coagulant is done to find out more about the potential of the best type of coagulant in removing effluent BO. The results showed that coagulation using the five types of coagulant tested, in removing organic material was obtained sequentially based on the removal rate of organic matter, namely: FeCl3, PAC, FeSO4, AlCl3, and Al2(SO4)3. The best coagulant in removing organic matter is FeCl3 coagulant with UV254 and UV456 parameters respectively 90.23% and 82.86%. FeCl3 coagulant has the advantage of being able to work at a wide pH.
