Abstract

The intention of this study was to distinguish grammatical errors contrived by the fourth semester EFL learners of English Department Lambung Mangkurat University academic year 2016/2017 Structure III A-2 class. The focus of errors analyzed by the researcher was in the section of surface strategy taxonomy. The descriptive quantitative study was chosen by the researcher as the type of the study, while the sampling technique used was cluster purposive sampling. The data which was necessary for this study was obtained by using a test on writing a narrative paragraph which conducted thrice and then analyzed using SPSS. The data analysis displayed that the research samples made grammatical errors in writing those paragraphs with the omission category as the most frequent one. Therefore, the researcher suggested that steady and continuous practices were essential for the EFL learners in diminishing the errors, while the EFL lecturers need to give extra session and essential topics related to the material given.
