This study described the cognitive levels of the tasks found in “Bahasa Inggris” textbook for grade ten by Kementerian Pendidikan dan Kebudayaan based on Revised Bloom’s Taxonomy. The tasks analyzed covered vocabulary, reading, writing and speaking tasks. This study was a descriptive qualitative research based on content analysis. The instruments of this study were the Cognitive Domain in Bloom’s Revised Taxonomy as a parameter to identify the levels of intellectual skills presented in the tasks found in the textbook and a checklist used to record and tally the cognitive levels of the tasks collected from the textbook.


         The analysis of the textbook revealed that the speaking, reading, writing, and vocabulary tasks found in “Bahasa Inggris” textbook for grade ten were dominated by remembering cognitive level. The least dominantly applied cognitive level in the textbook was evaluating level of tasks. Therefore, it is implied most tasks in “Bahasa Inggris” textbook were categorized as lower order thinking skills. In addition, even though the textbook covers all material stated in core and basic competence of curriculum 2013, the textbook placed emphasis mainly on the lower order thinking skills of remembering and understanding.


          Finally, it is suggested to the teachers to facilitate their students by providing good materials. This textbook also has weakness especially in proving higher order thinking tasks, teacher should bridge the gap by providing unavailable materials that should be taught based on Standard of Curriculum 2013 proposed by the government.
