            Lack of strategies in teaching reading makes students at SMAN 1 Kuala Kapuas are not motivated and their achievement are low. Based on the problem, the researcher conducted an experimental study. The objective was to find out whether there is any difference on students’ achievement in reading narrative text between students who are taught by using Visualization Strategy and students who are taught by using Picture Series at tenth grade students of SMAN 1 Kuala Kapuas in the academic year 2018/2019.

            This study used quantitative research and experimental study as the approach. The subjects were divided into experimental and control class. Instruments of this research used pre-test, post-test, observation, and documentation. Technique of analyzing data was t-test formula.

            The result from hypothesis testing was calculated by using t-test formula that put the mean score from experimental and control class into the formula then calculated. the calculation showed the result was 4.7 with significance level 0.05 compared with t-table 2.00. It showed that t-test was higher than t-table which means the alternative hypothesis (Ha) was accepted. Thus, there is a difference on students’ achievement in reading narrative text between students who are taught by using Visualization Strategy and students who are taught by using Picture Series.

As suggestions, teachers can apply Visualization Strategy to build students’ interest in reading and the other researchers can conduct research through this strategy with the other kind of English text.
