            Reading means acquire information from the text and also comprehend the text. However, when the researcher looks at the fact, acquiring and comprehending a text are not easy as many people thought. Therefore, the students of SMKN 3 Banjarmasin are often have difficulties in learning reading skill with one type learning materials in the classroom. Therefore, the use of authentic materials instead of created materials (textbooks) is important to improve students’ reading comprehension in order to increase students’ achievement in reading at SMKN 3 Banjarmasin academic year 2018/2019. This research used quasi-experimental design. The population of this research was the eleventh-grade students of SMKN 3 Banjarmasin. Purposive sampling was used in this research, the sample was the Accountant XI-B class as the experimental class and Accountant XI-C as the control class. The result of this research showed that there was a difference between the students who are taught by using Authentic Materials and Created Materials. Moreover, the result of hypothesis testing showed the t-test value (3.01) was higher than the t-table (1.99) with df (N-2) was 70. Therefore, Alternate Hypothesis (Ha) was accepted in this research. It is suggested for English teachers to use authentic materials as pedagogical purposes beside the textbook to improve students’ capability on reading.
