Abstract: Writing activity implicated reading activity because reading will help writing process. It could be assumed that reading could help the writing process. Thus, the objective of the research was to found out the correlation between reading comprehension and the ability in writing a narrative text of the eleventh-grade learners of SMA Negeri 10 Banjarmasin in the academic year of 2018/2019. The researcher used correlational study as a type of research. There were 168 learners in the population of this research and 68 pupils in the sample. The technique sampling was cluster random sampling. The instruments used were a reading comprehension and writing. The result showed that the coefficient correlation between both variables were 0.703 which was stronger than rtable in the 5% (0.244) degree range. This found that there was a relationship between learners’ comprehension for reading and the ability to write narrative text in the high level. It was proposed that learners need to learn and has more to developed their ability to read and write, the educators must figure a different way to teach reading and writing as it could helped the learners learn English.
