            This research is aimed to describe the achievement of the second grade students at SMA PGRI 7 Banjarmasin in reading comprehension.The research design in this study was descriptive because this research was not intended to prove a hypothesis. The researcher  uses descriptive qualitative method. The population is 33 students of second grade and the sample is 16 students. There are four basic English skills taught in school, they are : Listening, speaking, reading and writing. In this research, the researcher focused on the reading.

            The research finds that the students’ achievement in reading comprehension is in good category, based on the standard qualification of students score in SMA PGRI 7 Banjarmasin.

           Based on the research result, it is suggested, the teacher should give more practices in order to maintain the good achievements of students in reading comprehension, and the teacher should lead and help the students on how to be a good  reader, and then, teacher should give more practice to the students. The students are also suggested to do practices not only from the books but also from the internet.
