The aim of this research is to describe the description about the process of teaching writing descriptive text at the eleventh grades of SMK Muhammadiyah 1 Banjarmasin in academic year 2018/2019. This research used a descriptive qualitative design. The subject of this research was the English teacher of eleventh grades students at SMK Muhammadiyah 1 Banjarmasin.Based on the result of the observation and interview, it can be concluded that the process of teaching writing descriptive text in SMK Muhammadiyah 1 Banjarmasin consisted of three phases: pre-writing activity, while-writing activity, and post-writing activity. In addition, the researcher found the teacher has one tendency. She always used brainstorming as the technique in teaching, the media used only a single picture and the material only taken from one textbook. This tendency makes the process of teaching writing descriptive text in eleventh grade does not have a lot of variation
