Motivation has an important role in learners’ learning process. It is important to investigate what factors influence their motivation most because every learner has different factor to motivate them in learning English. The subjects of this research are the students of English Department at Lambung Mangkurat University Batch 2014. The researcher chose them because the students of English Department have learned for seven semesters at Lambung Mangkurat University.
The instruments were questionnaire and interview. The questionnaire was distributed to 97 respondents who took LTA classes. After that, the interview was conducted to 6 respondents who represented the samples before. The aim of interview was to gain more information related to the data from questionnaire. There were 36 statements in the questionnaire and it used semi-structured interview. The methodology of this research was descriptive. Moreover, the approach of this research was qualitative.
It is found that there are some factors which influence the learners’ motivation during their learning process. The factors are divided into external factors and internal factors. External factor is related to the environment around the student, such as, family, teacher, friends, society, their school’s building and their house’s condition. Moreover, internal factor is related to themselves, such as, their physical condition, their interest, their motivation and their behavior. In addition, internal factor influences them most during their learning process.
In conclusion, internal factor influences the students most during their learning process. Internal factor can be defined as their physical condition, their interest, their motivation and their behavior. The students should focus on their condition before they learn so they will have motivation during their learning process.
